Almost 80 percent of the country is unemployed. Two-thirds of the labor force do not have formal jobs.
Years of wholesale tree removal and poor agricultural practices have left the environment ravaged. With the ecosystem dying and soils depleted, Haitians have limited sources for clean water or fertile land for their crops.
EVERY DAY IS A STRUGGLE TO SURVIVE.

Many Haitian children are severely malnourished because they go day-to-day without food–or in an effort to fill their stomachs, they eat ashes, pebbles, goat feces or whatever they can find.
Hope to Haiti is focused on improving the lives of Haitians, especially the children suffering as they grow under these extreme hardships.

Astonishingly, one in ten Haitian children never live to see their fifth birthday. Haiti’s child mortality rate is among the worst in the world. For the poor, finding food is top priority. Many children and most adults do not have a full meal every day.

Hope to Haiti is taking food and water to some of the most remote villages on the island.

Children in our feeding programs receive a hot meal every day–that’s food for over a thousand children daily! For many, it’s the only meal they will eat that day. Beyond filling their bellies, these nutritious meals fuel their developing minds and bodies giving them a chance of reaching their full potential.
