Haitian soccer team packs meals for hungry

COON RAPIDS, Minn. - The Haitian girls soccer team, in Minnesota for the Schwan’s USA Cup in Blaine, spent Monday packing meals at Feed My Starving Children in Coon Rapids.

It’s the same food they eat after it’s shipped to their home country.

The team is in Minnesota thanks the Senneh Foundation’s Haitian Initiative and funding from the U.S. Department of State.

People traveling with the girls soccer team say the food that comes from places like Feed My Starving Children is vital to keeping people in Haiti healthy.

“For some of those kids, that's the only meal they have for the day. They have nothing else,” said Makenzie Francois of Haiti.

Feed My Starving Children says a third of the meals they pack end up in Haiti. The chance to host some of the kids they are impacting is a unique experience.

“Oh, it's such a powerful thing for each one of us that works here to actually get to see children whose lives have been transformed from the meals,” said Judy Watke of Feed My Starving Children.
